Dear YUMMies,

It can be easy to succumb to feeling helpless during these times. But, one of the best things we can do for ourselves is to reach out and take small meaningful actions that align with our values. As YuMMies living through this time of social distancing, that means getting creative with how we tell people they matter.

If you want to continue to spread the YMM message during these times, here are five ways you can do just that without leaving your house.

Leave a YMM Card for Delivery Drivers
Delivery drivers working for the UPS, FedEx, and other companies have hugely important jobs, but they’re often overlooked. When you’re expecting a delivery, take some time to let these people know how much they matter. Leave a YMM card, a short note, and even a tip for the driver to say thanks for everything they do.

Mail a YMM Card
While interacting with others in person may be limited right now, you can still send your YMM cards through the mail. Send a card or a handwritten “You Matter” message to important people in your lives who could use some extra support, like your doctor, dentist, or child’s teacher. Receiving a special message through the mail can provide an uplifting surprise for professionals, friends, and family.

Add “You Matter” to Your Email Signature
When you’re ending emails to friends, family, and others, end every email with the words, “You Matter.” To help you remember, you can set your email signature to include these words, saving you time and ensuring that this important message gets included with every email.

Text Your Contacts
Take a look through your contacts list on your phone, then text five people messages including the words, “You Matter.” You can repeat this process daily, and it may start some conversations that you would have otherwise missed out on.

Go Digital
Don’t forget the power of digital technology during this time. Get active on social media and reach out to friends to tell them, “You Matter.” Check in on friends and family. This may be the perfect time to strike up a conversation with the friend you haven’t talked with in months because of your busy schedules. Remind others that you’re thinking of them.
