You Matter Moment of the Week
“I was volunteering with a homeless feeding program and brought my last 2 You Matter cards with me. The third person I gave food to had been crying and she told me how embarrassing it was to ask for free food. She described what she had been going through, with the loss of her job and the loss of her husband. She told me she had no one who cared about her and my heart became heavy when she said she probably didn’t matter to anyone anyway!
I immediately handed her the You Matter Card, along with one of the You Matter bracelets I make and told her she mattered very much to me! I had the chance to chat with her after we finished feeding and she gave me a huge hug and said that little gesture meant so much to her. We hugged again, and I prayed with her. She promised me she would be there for the next week’s feeding service and hoped to see me again. I really felt like our paths crossed for a reason and I was so glad I was able to let her know that she DID matter!
If I can make ONE person know that they DO matter, then it makes all this worthwhile.”
