Cheryl’s Corner

A monthly blog with thoughts from our founder.

Dear You Matter Community,

My heart is heavy. No doubt yours is too. The harrowing and heartbreaking events of this past week have chilled and challenged me.

But I WON’T LET THEM CHANGE ME!

In fact, I want to reaffirm the beliefs that underlie the You Matter Marathon:

  • The world would be a more peaceful and joyful place if every person knew that they mattered.
  • The path to a more peaceful and joyful world begins with daily acts of connecting in positive and sincere ways that honor our common humanity.
  • One way to affirm our own significance is to affirm the significance of another.

I implore all of us to combat our helplessness and turn these beliefs and our despair into action by sharing more You Matter cards than we’ve ever shared before.

In fact, I want you to go out of your way to share a card with someone of a different faith or political party or race or sexual identity or even someone who roots for a rival football team.

If there is a path to peace, to healing, it is through recognizing our interdependence and reminding each other that each of us belongs.

The time is now.

If you’re out of cards you can purchase them or print your own using this template.

Join me.

You Matter.

Cheryl

Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach.
