“I saved and gave all the free You Matter cards to our teachers at my daughter’s high school. I also gave cards to the teachers who serve voluntarily at a religious school in our community. More often than not, teachers have to pitch in for supplies, and nowadays, a lot of budget cuts are happening. Some teachers have been let go but giving these cards show them that their importance or value has not lessened. These teachers take the time to impart education to our kids and that’s the greatest gift of all.
I also gave some to our custodians. These people are often overlooked, but we know the schools would not be clean or sanitized without them. They are very crucial.
I love participating in the You Matter Marathon. Giving out these cards is a very small gesture, but to someone it can mean the world to them. They may just be going through the mundane routine of their days, but these cards could be the highlight of their day. Some of them may even be inclined to pay it forward. We are all tiny ripples, and it makes me feel great to be part of this movement.”
